2-D hard enamel pin on a base of silvery metal, set on a crocodile grip tie-pin with small add-on. The tie-pin itself is 55mm long, the Virmm is 40mm long and 13,6mm high. The Virmm (Verlengd Inter Regio Materieel Modern) is the modernised version of the Virm (Verlengd Inter Regio Materieel), which is a lengthened version of the DD-Irm (DubbelDeks InterRegio Materieel) and can be found on the dutch tracks since early 2017. The Virmm is very recognizable on the outside due to the use of a warmer colour yellow, and the eyecatching yellow doors. These doors stand out due to the continuous blue line, which has been moved from the upper half of the train, down to the lower half, which does not continue across the doors, but instead frames them in passing. After first leasing a few of these locomotives from a different company, the Dutch Railways (NS) moved to buy the first of these TRAXX locs (Transnational Railway Applications with eXtreme fleXibility) in their own corporate yellow-blue colourscheme. Since the end of 2014 we can see these locomotives all over the dutch railways. The Traxx combined with the intercitycarriages make up the Intercity Direct and is mostly exploited over the HSL (High Speed Line service). The Flirt is (at this time till the arrival of the SNG) the youngest sprintertrain on the dutch railways, brought into service since the new schedule of december 2016. Just like the Virmm, the Flirt is fitted with the eyecatching yellow doors. The Flirt is executed in the new corporate style colourscheme of white, blue and those eyecatching yellow doors, much like the other (new) sprinter trains of the Dutch Railways. The Sgmm (StadsGewestelijk Materieel Modern) is the modernised version of the Sgm and is going round the dutch railways in this particular colourscheme since the revision between 2003 and 2006. It is the expectation that with the introduction of the new SNG at the end of 2018 that this SGMM will slowly be phased out of service, but for now we can still enjoy it for the time being. 2-D hard enamel pin on a base of silvery metal. On the backside are 2 caps that clasp down tightly due to the spring fitted into the core. The Mat' 54 is 40mm long and 14,5mm high. This Dogface train is modelled after the image of the 766, of which the number can be found on the nose (you do need a good set of eyes on you to spot it). The Mat '54 (Material '54) is our first "classic" edition. This train, which is named after the year in which it was ordered, quickly gained the (unofficial) nickname "the Dogshead", due to the round, slightly extended nose. The Dogshead served it's last ride on the Dutch Railways back in 1996 after 40 years of service. Originally commissioned way back in 1954, it wasn't until 1956 when the first models in service began traveling the tracks with their cream coloured moustache on the head of a green body. In 1968 the Nederlandse Spoorwegen (the Dutch Railways) commissioned the recolour to the renowned corporate colours of yellow and blue. These days the Dogshead has been long gone from the tracks, with just one exception. The train unit with number 766, these days owned by Stichting Hondekop (the Dogshead Foundation), is the only unit left that is still sound and fit for duty and can be found on occasion on one of it's various trips through the country. The Stichting Hondekop has completely revised this 766 since 2008 so it is looking shipshape again. If you want to find out more about Stichting Hondekop (the Dogshead Foundation), take a look at their website here: (dutch only) Or take a look at their facebookpage: (dutch only) Photo Credit left: http://www.nicospilt.com/index_HondekopVier.htm Nico Spilt Photo Credit right: https://twitter.com/nsreiziger/status/749174201211351040 @NS reiziger

2-D hard enamel pin on a base of silvery metal, set on a crocodile grip tie-pin. The tie-pin itself is 55mmlong, the Slt is 40mm lang and 18mm high. The Slt (Sprinter Light Train) was released onto the dutch tracks at the start of 2009 as a replacement for the Mat '64. The Slt was the first train in the new and bright signature style of the dutch railways. Alongside the well known yellow and blue on the outside, there were also large patches of white. This fresh new style was also applied on the inside by leaving out compartment separating walls and doors. This gave the train a very open and bright interior. The Slt also was the first train with flooring lining up with the height of the platforms which allowed wheelchairs to board these trains without the need of third party assistance. The Slt also brought a lot of trouble for the dutch railways. Issues with the wintery weather siderailed most of the Slt's for a longer period of time, waiting for repairs and adjustments. The biggest problems however were the complaints rising up from passengers, personell and traveler organisations about the lack of toilets in these sprinter trains. Eventually this led to a motion within the dutch government in which it was decided that all trains had to be fitted with a toilet come 2025 as part of the concession for the main rail network. Further more the dutch railways were forced to retrofit the Slt's with toilets, and future trains coming into service of the dutch railways from 2015 onward had to be fitted with a toilet before being allowed into service. At this time (almost) all train units of the Slt are fitted with a toilet, additionally sliding steps and extra wheelchair spaces have been added. Photo Credit: Rob Dammers

2-D hard enamel pin on a base of silvery metal. At the back the close consists of 2 cap clasps fitted with a coil spring. The Icmm is 40mm long and 19,4mm high. The Icmm (InterCityMaterial Modern) is the revised version of the Icm (InterCityMaterial) and while the Icmm wasn't around on the dutch tracks until 2006, the Icm has been roaming around the track since 1977. The Icm was mostly known for the interlocking "heads" of the trains which allowed people to cross over from one trainset to the other during the ride. It is because of these so called walk-through heads that the Icm was granted the official nickname of "Koploper" which translates as headwalker. Despite the huge succes among passenger and (catering) personell alike, the dutch railways decided to permanently close off these walkthrough heads due to the many issues that arose during coupling and de-coupling of the trains, cause of many a delay. The high rate at which the parts of this walkthrough construction wore down was another reason. During the revision in 2005/2006 when the Icm turned into the Icmm the contruction of the walk-through heads was removed and the doors were replaced with a solid synthetic plate. With the successor of the Icmm already waiting in the wings in the form of the Icng (InterCity New Generation) the Icmm will slowly but surely start dissapearing from our views, but we can still enjoy it for the time being.
